SINOTRUK SITRAK Heavy Trucks Officially Enter Production at Steyr Automotive in Austria

Recently, the production line of SINOTRUK SITRAK high-end heavy-duty trucks, a collaboration between SINOTRUK and Austria’s Steyr Automotive, has officially commenced operations at the Steyr plant in Austria. This marks the full implementation of SINOTRUK’s European localization strategy and represents the first large-scale assembly of China’s high-end heavy-duty trucks in Europe.

The SITRAK series trucks now in production are tailored for the European, Middle Eastern, and African (EMEA) markets. Initially adopting the SKD (Semi-Knocked Down) assembly model, production will gradually upgrade to CKD (Complete-Knocked Down) in the future. This will localize core processes such as cab manufacturing and painting, further aligning with European quality standards and delivery requirements.

As a renowned European commercial vehicle manufacturer with a century of manufacturing expertise and stringent European craftsmanship standards, Steyr Automotive provides its mature production lines, technical systems, and supply chain networks to the partnership. This ensures every SITRAK truck rolling off the line complies with European market requirements for safety, environmental protection, and performance.

A representative from SINOTRUK stated that the commencement of production at the Steyr plant is a pivotal milestone in SINOTRUK’s global expansion. Localized manufacturing in Europe will significantly shorten delivery cycles, reduce logistics costs, and better cater to the customized demands of European customers. It will also strengthen SINOTRUK’s competitiveness in the high-end heavy-duty truck segment and facilitate the deep integration of China’s premium commercial vehicle brands into the European market.
